Grammarly

Is Grammarly Premium worth it? I’m an International and USA TODAY Bestselling Author and an Award-Winning Blogger. I’ve used both the limited free version of Grammarly and the paid Premium version. It’s possibly the greatest tool in my writing arsenal.

Are you planning to use Grammarly for school, career, or personal purposes? If you are, it’s essential to decide which plan you’re getting. Read on for a comparative review of Grammarly Free vs. Premium vs. Business.

Grammarly Free Features

Grammarly Free lets you improve your writing through basic spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks. With the free version, users can also receive suggestions on making their sentences more concise and their tone better in their documents.

You can also switch between American, British, Canadian, and Australian English. Access Grammarly Free on the following platforms:

  • Microsoft Word.
  • Google Docs.
  • Chrome, Safari, and Microsoft Edge browsers.
  • iOS and Android devices through the Grammarly application.

This option comes without a cost but with minimal features. Although the suggestions are education, clarity-focused rewrites, plagiarism detectors, politeness check, and team management are not available.

I found with the free version, you just get the basics. But I love how it still lets you know how many advanced issues there are to fix if you had the Premium upgrade. It was why I decided to try the paid version in the first place.

Grammarly Premium Features

The key difference between Grammarly Free and Premium plan is its advanced grammar functionalities that can drastically improve your writing skills. For instance, instead of only checking your sentences for correctness, Premium also looks at the engagement level.

I love that for my content writing. But for my fiction work, I like how it works with me to improve the flow of the writing; catching run-on sentences, improper dialogue tags, repetitiveness, etc.

Grammarly Premium has a vocabulary enhancement feature and lively sentence variety that can make your sentence structure more pleasing to read.

Grammarly Premium also fixes your sentence structure aside from the fundamental corrections on spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. The editor features tone detection, writing style consistency, and a built-in plagiarism checker for your online documents.

Sound more diplomatic and polite by accepting Grammarly’s delivery suggestions. These recommendations allow you to adjust your content’s formality level, politeness, and inclusive language.

Grammarly Premium’s prices are based on monthly, quarterly, and annual plans. The biggest cost you can pay is $144 for the yearly plan. It’s billed as one huge payment but will save you more money than the other subscriptions.

The quarterly subscription costs $60 every three months. Your total payment for the year will be $180.

Premium version’s monthly subscription is ideal for the casual writer or student who doesn’t do heavy writing. The price is $30 per month, and it’s easier to cancel anytime!

Honestly, if you’re unsure, I would try a quarterly subscription to see if it works for you. That’s what I originally did, and after just a few uses, I knew I would upgrade and do an annual plan.

Grammarly Business Features

Businesses will love Grammarly’s Business plan because it has all the advanced writing capabilities of the premium tool and more. It comprehensively checks spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes while improving your sentence structure and delivery.

Grammarly Business also has a plagiarism checker, tone detector, and engagement level for the professional writer. But what makes it suitable in the workplace setting is its powerful team management feature.

At least three users can access the Business version. Which, to me, is the only real benefit of the Business plan. If your team has a full-time internet marketer, freelance proofreader, creative writer, and business executive, everyone will have access!

These users will have individual accounts and the ability to use style guides and snippets. Setting the brand tone, account roles, and permissions will make your publishing process more manageable.

Other features of the Grammarly Business include the analytics dashboard, priority email support, and SAML SSO.

This version is available in monthly and yearly plans. The monthly cost for the grammar checking tool is $25/member/month, which is billed as one payment for all the users.

The yearly subscription depends on how many users your team has:

  • 3-9 users: $180 per person/$15 per month.
  • 10-49 users: $174 per person/$14.50 per month.
  • 50-149 users: $150 per person/$12.50 per month.

Is There a Grammarly for Educational Institutions?

Yes. Grammarly recently introduced its version for educational institutions, which unlocks additional features for comprehensive grammar checks. The Education version maintains consistency in spelling and grammar while adjusting your formality and engagement levels.

Improve your sentences with the AI-powered writing assistant to get more readable and rewarding results for your assignments. Grammarly will help you articulate ideas, ensure proper citation suggestions, and provide rewrites for sentences.

If you want a quote for your academic institution, you can visit Grammarly’s Plans and Pricing page.

Is Grammarly Free for Business Use?

Grammarly Free is not ideal for business use because it doesn’t have the extra features that one needs when writing business emails, reports, and any piece of content in the workplace. All it does is correct basic spelling and grammatical errors.

You also don’t have to use the Business subscription if you’re a one-person team. This extended version is only ideal for huge groups that require strict brand style and snippets.

The AI-powered grammar checker is available in a premium version, which you can use for your business documents. This online proofreader helps a freelance writer with a freelance writing business, any business owner, and an active writer.

Grammarly Premium will make your business writings more concise, polite, confident, and readable.

Is Grammarly Premium Worth it for Professionals?

Grammarly Premium over Free is your best choice if you’re a professional like me who does everyday writing. Millions of writers use it for basic tone detection, inclusive language, and confident language. It also offers consistent corrections in spelling mistakes.

Professionals from different industries also use this online tool for their language preferences for English language variants.

There should be a Grammarly Premium Lifetime for professionals to invest in. For now, you can avail of the annual subscription. The Premium plan comes at an extra cost but is more worth it in the long run for only $144.

Despite having a Grammarly subscription, I would still recommend a human editor, especially if you’re a creative writer. No one will analyze your style of writing better than an actual editor! And using tools like Grammarly will cut down on the costs of a human editor.

Is Grammarly Premium Worth it for Students?

Yes. Grammarly Premium is suitable for students who want their assignments and academic papers to possess better quality. The best Premium feature serves as a personal writing coach that corrects errors in punctuation and grammar, and inappropriate tone.

Another common English mistake among students is the use of passive voice. Grammarly Editor asks students to change their sentences from passive to active in any formal document.

Students can also spot plagiarism in their informative and creative pieces with an internet connection. This Grammarly feature prevents learners from receiving school sanctions or expulsions due to academic dishonesty.

The monthly subscription is a practical plan for students. They can pay a small amount of $30 a month to enjoy the premium version.

You may also ask your school administrators if they are subscribed to Grammarly Education. Leading institutions worldwide use this program for good citation hygiene and proper tone. Grammarly Education also features enterprise-grade security to protect student data.

Does Grammarly Business Include Premium?

Yes. Grammarly Business includes all its premium features and more. This version still alerts users to write concise sentences with an appropriate tone while giving genre-specific suggestions.

Grammarly Business also offers the same installation options, including the browser plugin and app version. But its extra writing style features focus on snippets, style guides, and brand tones.

This version is also perfect for business people in teams of three or more. Use it to perfect your business team plan and documents before submitting them to executives.

Is Grammarly Business Better than Premium?

It depends. Grammarly Business may only be better if you work with a team. It’s developed for teams to make sure that they communicate professionally in their writing. So, if you’re a content manager that works with an editor, writers, designers, etc. it’s perfect for you.

But if you’re an individual with a self-owned business like me, Premium is more worth it. I get all the same benefits of Business, just without the ability to share the program. It’s for professionals, students, and casual writers who want to improve their writing with advanced feedback.

Grammarly Free, Premium, or Business?

Grammarly Free, Premium, and Business have numerous differences. The two Grammarly plans offer unique levels and features for your writing.

Choose Grammarly Free if you only want a tool that does basic checks on spelling and grammar. Go for Grammarly Premium if you’re a content creator, marketer, or student who needs more advanced grammar-checking capabilities.

Grammarly Business is the way to go if you’re a team of three or more who wish to improve your business’ branding.
